New Product Alert: Yarok Green with Envy Shampoo and Conditioner
...Yarok is a collection of hair care products made from organically and sustainably grown ingredients. This method of cultivation means the essential oils are as pure as they can be when they finally touch your hair. Yarok is mostly known for its collection of personal serums, but I'm really excited about Green With Envy, a volumizing shampoo/conditioner duo. Infused with lavender, cedar atlas, red mandarin, sweet orange, rosemary and grapefruit essences, the shampoo ($22) cleans without stripping hair of its natural oils. Ths conditioner ($25) uses jojoba seed oil, macadamia nut oil and organic aloe vera to condition, soften and protect hair. I haven't tried either yet, but I'm planning to soon as a very special, very earth-friendly splurge.

Undo Hair Damage
Step 1. Limit how often you wash your hair, since the drying process can be damaging. To refresh between washings, "try a dry shampoo every other day," says NYC hairstylist Oscar Blandi.
When spritzed on your roots, it absorbs dirt, restores volume and gives hair a fresh scent.
Step 2. Switch to an ionic hair dryer. The technology dries hair faster, emits heat without frying hair, and prevents breakage and frizz.
Step 3. Treat your scalp to a rundown with a restorative hair serum such as Yarok's. "A weekly scalp massage stimulates blood circulation, which encourages the hair's strength and growth," says Blandi.

"Red is the thickest and curliest hair", says Alvow who relies on beta carotene-rich carrot oil to preserve the red pigment and help calm the curl.

The Hair Raiser Mordechai Alvow
"Even if you don't have thick hair, you can create the illusion of volume with the right cut," says Miami stylist Mordechai Alvow, the founder of Yarok hair care. For starters, avoid lengths that go past the shoulders ("long layers can pull hair down and make it seem flatter," he says), and opt for chin skimming bobs instead. Trick of the Trade: Alvow suggests skipping a brush when blow-drying. "Instead, work fingers in vigorous circular motion right at the roots," he says. "It stimulates blood circulation, which encourages growth."

We sent a T&C editor to Manhattan's Pashah Salon to sample a Yarok sensory Treatment. After a ten-minute combing, a soothing scalp massage and a ten- minute time-out with a warm towel wrapped around her head, she said her hair felt "smoother to the touch and more elastic," and everyone noticed how healthy it looked.
